1940s Pan Am Clipper Airlines Kauffer Mexico Travel Poster PRINTED BY: Litho in USA by the Gugler Lithographic Company. AGE: c. 1940's, lithograph ARTIST: E. Mcknight Kauffer (1890-1954) Famous graphic designer, poster artist, illustrator. CONDITION: B-, Linen Mounted. Please note the condition of this Pan Am poster. This Kauffer poster has restoration at the four corners and in the borders. This is a beautiful poster worth saving, by a noted American artist. Expert restoration and displays beautifully, but does have repaired edge patches in the white borders on each side. Note: E. McKnight Kauffer was born in the United States and settled in England in 1914. He was employed as an artist by the London Transport Board and for the Great Western Railway. Kauffer designed posters for government agencies during World War II. After the war, he worked for American Airlines and continued with illustrations. Here is one of his posters for Pan American Airlines. It features Mexican attributes, a young girl with a rooster in her hand, very art deco. We only have this one.
